Hydro-Excavation

Hydro-excavating is a non-destructive method of excavating which replaces conventional backhoe and digging techniques.

Hydro-excavating uses pressurized water to stir up soil. At the same time, a high pressure vacuum is used to remove the soil, leaving a clean hole around which work can be safely performed.

Applications

Hydro-excavation examples include the following:

  • Exposing underground utilities for servicing and repairs.

  • Digging telephone pole holes.

  • Creating trenches for geo-thermal installation.

  • Removing tree stumps.

  • Excavating soil for pool installation.

  • Excavating in frozen ground.

  • Excavating landscaped property.

  • Excavating remote or hard to reach areas.

Advantages of Hydro-Excavation

The many advantages of using water as your digging tool include:

  • Damage to area surrounding the excavation zone is minimized.

  • The potential for damage to underground infrastructure is reduced.

  • Water acts as its own lubricant.

  • Water controls static electricity.

  • Water is heated for frozen ground excavation.

  • Water prevents the sandblasting effect of air.

  • Water is far more productive, especially in tough soils.

  • Water works in almost all soil conditions.
